We are looking for an experienced Database Operations & Support Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise database environment consisting primarily of MSSQL and Oracle servers, with PostgreSQL becoming increasingly relevant in the future.

The role involves operational support, service management aligned with ITIL processes, and close collaboration with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure stable and efficient database services.

Responsibilities

Operations & Support (1st / 2nd / 3rd Level)

• Operate and support the existing MSSQL and Oracle server landscape
• Handle incidents, problems, changes, requests, and events in accordance with ITIL processes
• Support the future adoption and integration of PostgreSQL environments

Technical Focus

• Perform performance analysis and performance tuning
• Create data extracts and manage user access / permissions
• Contribute to system optimization and continuous improvement
• Support both on-premises and cloud-based environments
• Ensure monitoring activities and approvals within change management processes
• Participate in review meetings and reporting activities:
  • Service reports
  • SLA reports
  • Review documentation

Service Management & Documentation

• Support and collaborate within defined service roles:
  • Service Desk

• Service Team
  • Service Manager
  • Technical Service Manager
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Work with and support future integration of ticketing interfaces with ServiceNow

Key Requirements

• Strong experience with MSSQL and/or Oracle database operations & support
• Experience in 1st / 2nd / 3rd level support environments
• Good understanding of ITIL-based service management
• Experience with:
  • Incident Management
  • Problem Management
  • Change Management
  • Request Management
• Experience with performance tuning and database optimization
• Experience working in enterprise infrastructure environments

Nice to Have

• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with cloud-based database environments
• Familiarity with ServiceNow
• Experience in large-scale server landscapes

Technology Landscape

• ~200 Oracle servers
• ~100 MSSQL servers
• PostgreSQL environment currently being established
